Yawning Man + Rancho Bizzarro - 21.05.2017 - Ganz of Bicchio (Viareggio, LU)

Poiché il suono del deserto affascina come il Mal d'Africa, non faccio in tempo a rientrare da un festival figo che già sento il bisogno impellente di un altro concerto. E non di un "altro" concerto tout court: si tratta addirittura di un bis in meno di 24 ore!!!

Ad aprire la serata, band labronica fresca fresca di formazione: i Rancho Bizzaro. Apertura davvero azzeccata, perché le sonorità di matrice desert/stoner rock sono proprio quello che ci vuole per riscaldare l'atmosfera. Niente linee vocali da seguire, ma solo dei gran riffs in cui immergersi, seguendo l'onda ritmica dettata dal basso. Siamo dalle parti di Brant Bjork e soci, ma non siamo di fronte a dei cloni. E se i video ad oggi online sono un ottimo assaggio della loro musica, dal vivo il loro impatto è decisamente più incisivo ed accattivante. Direi che non resta che aspettare l'album ad ottobre!

Avevo preannunciato che avrei fatto il bis, e ho mantenuto la promessa! E ho fatto decisamente bene! Perché stasera gli Yawning Man hanno si sono superati rispetto alla sera precedente. Vuoi perché non era un festival e non erano l'ultima band di un corposo bill, vuoi perché il locale è così piccolo che io sono praticamente sul palco con la band, vuoi semplicemente perché non tutte le serate hanno lo stesso fascino, sta di fatto che stasera la musica di Mario Lalli e soci mi cattura ancora di più e mi trasporta ancora più lontano. Mi pare davvero di vagare attraverso un deserto sconfinato trascinata da una musica che è solo nella mia testa, ma che al tempo stesso satura tutta l'aria e lo spazio in cui sono immersa. Suoni ancora meglio calibrati rispetto alla sera precedente non possono che perfezionare il tutto.

Mai perdere l'occasione di un bel concerto desert: il viaggio vale davvero il biglietto!

As the sound of the desert fascinates like Africa blues, I have just come back from a cool festival that I already feels the urgent need of another concert. And not an "other" concert tout court : it is an enchore in less than 24 hours!!!

Opener of this evening, a brand new band from Livorno: Rancho Bizzaro. No support band could have been better than this, since their desert/stoner rock sounds are exactly what it takes to warm the atmosphere. No vocal lines to follow but only great riffs in which to dive, following the rhythmic wave dictated from the bass. Hints of Brant Bjork and co, but we are not facing clones. And if the videos online today are a great taste of their music, live their impact is definitely more incisive and captivating. We just have to wait for the album next October!

I had announced that I would do an encore, and I kept my promise! And I did very well! Because tonight Yawning Man outdid themselves compared to the previous night. Maybe because it was not a festival and it was not the last band of a rich bill, either because the venue is so small that I'm pretty much on stage with the band, or just because not all the evenings have the same charm, to me it is a fact that tonight Mario Lalli & co music captures me even more and carries me even further. It really seems to wander through a boundless desert dragged by a music that is just in my head but at the same time saturates all the air and the space I am immersed in. Sounds even better calibrated than the previous night can only perfect everything.

Never miss a chance for a good desert concert: the trip really worth the ticket!
