"Lo stoner rock è un genere ancorato agli anni '90, ormai ammuffito e stantio, senza alcuna spinta creativa". Inserire nello stereo l'ultimo disco dei Wo Fat e rimangiarsi questa frase, prego! Midnight Cometh è stoner fino al midollo, e - come è giusto che sia - rinvigorisce e ringiovanisce le sonorità hard rock/heavy psych degli anni '60/'70 senza la pretesa di rivoluzionare un bel niente, ma evidenziando una creatività dirompente, a tratti incontenibile. Energia allo stato puro che origina dal blues ed esplode in riff sovraccarichi di distorsione e groove, per poi liquefarsi in rotondi assoli deformati dal wah wah. Il trio texano, con un suono caldissimo, valvolare e massiccio, solleva il polverone di sabbia desertica ben conosciuto dagli amanti di queste sonorità, e si lancia a tutta velocità a cavallo dell'energia elettrica (Riffborn) per poi cambiare sinuosamente direzione, con lunghe cavalcate soliste  - talvolta annebbiate da vapori psichedelici (Of Smoke and Fog) -  che, per quanto dilatatissime, non abbandonano mai il tiro e il dinamismo. Midnight Cometh è una corsa in moto imprevedibile ed esaltante da tanto è colma di idee, pur seguendo strade conosciute fin dagli anni 60.  Il gruppo americano ha uno stile di guida fantasioso, fluido e divertente, per cui sedersi al posto del passeggero è un'esperienza imperdibile per gli amanti di queste strade, e per chi è convinto di conoscerle già a memoria.

Midnight Cometh is stoner to the marrow, and - as it should be - it reinvigorates and rejuvenates hard rock/heavy psych sounds of the 60s/70s without claiming to revolutionize anything, yet highlighting a disruptive creature, at times uncontainable. Pure energy originating from blues and exploding in ultra-distorted groovy riffs, then liquefying into wah wah deformed solos. With a warm massive tube sound, the texan trio raises the desert sand dust well known to the lovers of these sounds, and runs at full speed on horseback of the electric power (Riffborn) and then sinuosly changes direction, with long solo rides - sometimes blurred by psychedlic vapors (Of Smoke and Fog) - which, though hyper-dilated, never lose their groove and dynamism. Midnight Cometh is an unpredictable and exciting race: so full of ideas, even though it runs along roads known since the 60s. The American group has an inventive fluid and fun driving style: sitting in the passenger's seat is an unmissable experience for lovers of these roads, and for those who are convinced to know them by heart.
