Saltate tutte le date spagnole del loro tour europeo, i finlandesi Monsternaut ripiegano sull’Italia e a sorpresa salta fuori un concerto “last minute”, proprio nella nostra zona.

Room 6 in apertura. Se in occasione del loro concerto di spalla ai Karma to Burn si erano rivelati in grado di miscelare forza e pesantezza hard rock/stoner con melodie e arrangiamenti progressive, in quest’occasione suonano ancor più carichi, oltre che più fluidi e precisi. Ottima conferma!

Tocca poi ai finlandesi e la minuscola sala del Ganz of Bicchio si ritrova saturata dalla distorsione della chitarra dei Monsternaut, che romba come una moto di grossa cilindrata, mentre la sezione ritmica tiene l’acceleratore del groove a manetta. Veniamo lanciati a tutta velocità lungo autostrade infuocate che tagliano deserti selvaggi, con capelli al vento e aria di libertà nei polmoni. La strada percorsa è la stessa aperta dai Fu Manchu a metà anni 90, ma l’energia sprigionata dal trio di Kerava è talmente travolgente da mettere assolutamente in secondo piano qualsiasi paragone, per quanto questo sia evidente. Un basso roboante (di scuola Motörhead), una batteria essenziale (quasi punk, che valorizza l’accelerazione del 4/4 con il piatto del charleston sempre aperto) e una chitarra grassa e sporca (che puzza di diesel). Cosa volere di più? Canzoni che premono il freno solo per qualche mastodontico rallentamento sabbattiano, ma che più spesso schiacciano sull’acceleratore con un‘energia sfrenata e prepotente.

Concerto “a sorpresa” per chiudere alla grande quest’annata concertistica ricca ed esaltante!

Cancelled all the Spanish concerts of their European tour, Finnish Monsternaut look to Italy and suddenly we have a “last minute” gig exactly in our area.

Room 6 as opener. If last July (supporting Karma To Burn) they proved to be capable of mixing together hard rock/stoner heaviness and progressive melodies, tonight they sound even groovier, and also more precise and fluid. Great confirmation!

Then it is the turn of the Finnish and Ganz of Bicchio minuscule hall is saturated by Monsternaut guitar distortion, roaring like a huge motorbike, while the rhythm section keeps the groove accelerator at full throttle. We are launched at full speed along blazing highways that cut through wild deserts, with windblown hair and freedom in our lungs. The road is the same open by Fu Manchu in mid-90s, but the energy released by Kerava trio is so overwhelming to put completely into the background any comparison, though this is almost plain. A roaring bass (Motörhead school), an essential drum (almost punk, enhancing the acceleration of 4/4 with the hi-hat always open) and a fat dirty guitar (which stinks of diesel). What do you want more? Songs pushing the brake only for some mammoth sabbathian slowdown, but more often crushing the accelerator with unrestrained overpowering energy.

A "by surprise" concert to close in the best way possible this rich exciting musical year!
