Karma To Burn + Rancho Bizzarro - 08.06.2018 - Fortezza Vecchia (Livorno)

"If you have to shoot...shoot! Don't Talk!"

Poche chiacchere. Accendere gli ampli e sparare forte una bella sassata di stoner strumentale. Questo è quello che i Karma to Burn ci dicono citando Il buono, il brutto e il cattivo nell'EP Mountain Czar, e questo è quello che trasmette ogni loro concerto.

Prima di loro, fra le mura della splendida Fortezza Vecchia del porto di Livorno, un'altra band che ha bisogno di poche parole: i Rancho Bizzarro. Il loro desert rock strumentale convince ogni volta di più, stasera grazie anche ad un'acustica eccellente e a volumi mastodontici che valorizzano la pesantezza dei riff, spesso alternati a momenti di rock psichedelico liquido e avvolgente. Hard rock rovente e brezza di una serata di inizio estate. 

I Karma to Burn fanno poi tremare le mura della fortezza con una scarica di groove. La loro musica è una petroliera gigantesca che puzza di gasolio e - nonostante la sua imponente stazza - viaggia veloce, innalzando onde anomale nel porto.  Riff carichi di diesel, suoni pieni e unti di grasso, una batteria possente, ma al tempo stesso scattante ed elastica.  Tutti marchi di fabbrica della petroliera americana da svariati anni, ma mai annacquati o arrugginiti, nonostante il trascorrere del tempo. Il capitano della nave puzza di tequila come un vecchio pirata, e non necessita di parole per esaltare la ciurma presente stasera. Bastano ottimi riff e scariche di energia.

No small talk. Turn on the amp and shoot some great instrumental stoner. This is what Karma to Burn tell us by quoting The good, the bad and the ugly in Mountain Czar EP, and this is what they do in every concert.

Before them, among the walls of the beautiful Fortezza Vecchia in the port of Livorno, another band that needs few words: Rancho Bizzarro. Their instrumental desert rock convinces every time more, tonight also thanks to excellent acoustics and mammoth volumes that enhance the heaviness of riffs, often alternated with moments of liquid enveloping psychedelic rock. Hot hard rock and breeze of an early summer evening.

Then Karma to Burn make the walls of the fortress tremble with their mighty groove. Their music is a gigantic oil tanker that stinks of diesel and - despite its impressive size - travels fast, raising anomalous waves in the harbour. Riffs full of gasoline, rich and greasy sounds, powerful (but at the same time snappy and elastic) drums. All trademarks of the American oil tanker for since many years, but never watered down or rusty, despite the time passing by. The captain of the ship smells of tequila like an old pirate, and he does not need words to exalt the crew tonight. Just good riffs and plenty of energy.
