Facile, nel 2018, scomporre un raggio di luce (sonora) in un arcobaleno, dopo avergli fatto attraversare un prisma di vetro. Il primo esperimento del genere è ormai entrato nella storia (del rock). Molto più complesso e originale - anche se negli ultimi tempi sono nati molti laboratori impegnati in questo tipo di ricerca - fare la stessa cosa con un prisma di pietra. I Weedpecker si dimostrano degli eccellenti scienziati della fisica delle onde, e riescono a rendere rifrangenti, a tratti perfino trasparenti, ammassi rocciosi densi e compatti. I risultati dei loro esperimenti sorprendono. La robustezza delle rocce magmatiche del loro stoner rock diventa inaspettatamente leggera e luminosa come il cristallo sottile. La band polacca maneggia queste pietre come se fossero minuscoli sassi da lanciare sull’acqua per farli rimbalzare sulla superficie, fino a farli levitare in aria come in un quadro di Magritte. Le melodie luminose (riflessi dei primi Tame Impala) che colpiscono queste pietre vengono nebulizzate e scomposte in arcobaleni (riflessi degli ultimi Elder) fino a tuffarsi in una pentola piena d'oro (lo splendido finale di Embrace, degno erede del prisma più famoso del rock). III si candida per il premio Nobel della fisica 2018, ma soprattutto si dimostra una delle migliori composizioni psichedeliche degli ultimi tempi.

In 2018 it's easy to decompose a ray of (sound) light into a rainbow, after having made it through a glass prism. The first experiment of this kind has now entered history (of rock). Much more complex and original - although in recent times many laboratories engaged in this type of research were born - doing the same thing with a stone prism. Weedpecker prove to be excellent scientists in the physics of waves, and they are able to make dense compact rock masses refracting, sometimes even transparent. The results of their experiments are surprising. The strenght of the magmatic stones of their stoner rock becomes unexpectedly light and bright like thin crystal. The Polish band manipulates these stones as if they were tiny pebbles to be thrown on the water to make them bounce on its surface, until they levitate in the air as in a painting by Magritte. The luminous melodies (reflections of the first Tame Impala) that hit these stones are nebulized and decomposed into rainbows (reflections of the last Elder) until they dive into a pot full of gold (the splendid final of Embrace, worthy heir of the most famous prism of rock). III is a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physics 2018, but above all it proves to be one of the best psychedelic albums in recent times.
