Rabbia adolescenziale, il desiderio di scioccare e una gran voglia di divertirsi. Con questi presupposti, nella seconda metà degli anni '80, a Stoccolma, nacque una piccola ma creativa scena. Band di teenagers come i Nihilist ed i Carnage iniziarono a suonare musica pesante con attitudine hardcore. La loro musica rimase underground, ma gettò le fondamenta di un suono innovativo. Gli Entombed (nati dalle ceneri dei Nihilist) pubblicarono il loro album d'esordio nel 1990, portando a maturazione le idee dell'intera scena. Left Hand Path è un macigno fangoso dominato da uno strano suono di chitarra saturo di frequenze medie, un album di death metal sporco e grasso, soffocante e oppressivo come una storia di Lovecraft, spaventoso e divertente come un b-movie horror. Melodie cupe (perfettamente rappresentate dallo splendido artwork), visioni splatter e violenza adolescenziale.

Teenage rage, the wish to shock and a great will of having fun. With these assumptions, in the second half of the 80’s, in Stockholm, a small but creative scene was born. Teenage band like Nihilist and Carnage started to play heavy music with hardcore attitude. Their music remained underground, but it layed the foundations of an innovative sound. Entombed (arisen from Nihilist ashes) published their debut in 1990, maturing the ideas of the entire scene. Left Hand Path is a sludgy boulder dominated by a strange guitar sound full of medium frequencies, a dirty and fat death metal album, suffocating and oppressive as a Lovecraft story, frightening and funny as an horror b-movie. Grim melodies (perfectly represented by the wonderful artwork), splatter visions and teenage violence.
