Il Taun mi piace subito a prima vista: piccolo, raccolto, molto garage. Il palco è praticamente a terra e saturo della strumentazione delle bands. Giusto il tempo di prendermi una birra ed è tempo di incollarsi agli ampli.

Primi i Komatsu. La scorsa volta era in occasione dell'Heavy Psych Sounds Fest, in quel di Parma. Era l'ultima data del loro tour di supporto ai Duel. E nonostante avessero sulle spalle un intero tour su e giù per l'Europa, il loro concerto fu carico, tirato e senza cali di sorta. Stasera - vuoi perché è la seconda volta che li sento dal vivo, vuoi perché conosco meglio i pezzi - il quartetto di Eindhoven spacca ancora di più. Il Taun viene scosso e stordito dal gran tiro delle canzoni, dalla potenza delle distorsioni, dalle ritmiche sempre serrate e schiacciasassi. Con un solo EP e due album all'attivo, i Komatsu sono una band davvero interessante e da tenere d'occhio.

I The Freeks poi portano la serata al suo culmine e compimento grazie al loro stoner-psych-garage rock. Ruben Romano non ha certo bisogno di presentazioni. Ma se lui può essere considerato "il pezzo da novanta", il resto della band non è assolutamente da meno ed è proprio l'intera squadra a fare la differenza. Metà dedicata al fresco di stampa Shattered, metà dedicata al suo predecessore Full On, la scaletta è davvero perfetta, carichissima di groove, satura di riff serrati e animata da una vena psych. Quando le tastiere si armonizzano alla perfezione con le chitarre e la sessione ritmica, sei davanti ad una band che ha le spalle larghe e ha appreso, digerito e "rinnovato" anni '60 e '70 alla luce delle sonorità dei '90. E questo non è revival, ma musica con una storia e che parla a chi ha la prospettiva lunga e sgombra. Per chi se li è persi nelle molte date italiane del loro tour europeo il consiglio è solo uno: rimediate alla prima occasione...e intanto ascoltatevi l'ultimo album!

I liked the Taun right away at first sight: small, cosy, really garage. The stage is almost ground level and saturated with bands instrumentation. Just the time to take a beer and it is time to stick to the amps.

First Komatsu. Last time was at Heavy Psych Sounds Fest, in Parma. It was the last show of their tour supporting Duel. And although they had gone through an entire tour up and down Europe, their concert was groovy and without ups and downs. Tonight - whether because it is the second time I hear them live, either because I know better their songs - the quartet of Eindhoven sounds even greater. The Taun is shaken and stunned by the kick of the songs, the power of distortions, the steamroller rhythmics. With only one EP and two albums released, Komatsu is a really interesting band to keep in mind.

Then The Freeks bring the evening to its climax and fulfillment through their stoner-psych-garage rock. Ruben Romano needs no introduction. But if he can be considered the "bigwig", the rest of the band is definitely not outdone and it is the whole team that makes the difference. Half dedicated to the just released Shattered, half dedicated to its predecessor Full On, the setlist is really perfect, super-groovy, saturated with tight riffs and animated by a psych vein. When keyboards perfectly blend with guitars and rhythmic section, you are in front of a band with an outstanding background and which has learned, digested and "renewed" 60s and 70s in the light of the sounds of the 90s. And this is not revival, but music with a history that speaks to those who have a long and clear perspective. For those who lost them in the many Italian dates of their European tour, the advice is only one: remedy at the earliest chance ... and in the meantime listen to their latest album!
