Ci sono band che pensi che non riuscirari mai a vedere dal vivo, ed invece non solo riesci a vederle innamorandotene definitivamente (esattamente un anno fa, al Desertfest Antwerp), ma le rivedi anche a distanza di solo un anno e con un nuovo album all'attivo! Ma procediamo con ordine...

Ad aprire ai Graveyard stasera ci sono i connazionali Bombus. E con i Graveyard condividono sostanzialmente solo la terra di origine. Il loro suono - così come il loro approccio sul palco - è decisamente molto più heavy e "spaccone". Sembra di aver fatto un salto indietro nel tempo e di essere tornati a cavallo fra fine anni '80 e inizio anni '90. Carica a palla. Sudore a litri. E tutta l'attitudine da rocker consumati, esaltatori di folle. Assolutamente divertenti, energici e galvanizzanti, sono un fantastico riscaldamento in attesa della band capitanata da Joakim Nilsson.

I Graveyard attaccano con una bella tripletta dall'ultimo album (Peace) e conquistano subito tutto il Bloom. Le note scorrono fluide come su disco, ma sono decisamente più vibranti, emozionanti e trascinanti. Col suo timbro sempre graffiante ed evocativo, la voce di Nilsson ci mette un po' a scaldarsi (forse a causa di un abbassamento di voce o di un raffreddamento), ma è comunque fin dall'inizio magnetica. E con la stupenda Slowmotion Countdown entra in serata e si apre in tutta la sua bellezza, svelando tutto il suo calore. Rispetto al concerto di un anno fa il nuovo batterista (Oskar Bergenheim) è entrato ancor più in sintonia con il resto della band, e con il basso di Truls Mörck dà vita ad una sezione ritmica decisamente portante e travolgente. La scaletta di stasera ripercorre un po' tutti gli album del quartetto di Göteborg (con l'unica eccezione dell'omonimo album di esordio), ma dedica una buona parte alle canzoni dell'ultimo lavoro, che dal vivo sprigionano tutta la loro forza e bellezza. A distanza di un anno, i Graveyard mi conquistano ancora una volta, dimostrando di non essere solo capaci di scrivere grandi canzoni, bensì di essere anche una grande band live, capace di far (ri)vivere atmosfere e sensazioni dal sapore settantiano, senza però alcuna nota di nostalgia.

There are bands you think you will never see live, and instead not only you manage to see them definitively falling in love with them (exactly a year ago, at Desertfest Antwerp), but you even see them again after only one year and with a new album! But let's proceed with order...

Tonight supporting Graveyard there are compatriot Bombus. And with Graveyard they basically only share the land of origin. Their sound - as well as their approach on stage - is definitely much heavier and "brash". It seems to have taken a step back in time and to be back at the turn of late 80s and early 90s. Energy to the max. Sweat to liters. And all the attitude of worn rockers, exciters of crowds. Absolutely funny, energetic and galvanizing, they are a fantastic warm-up while waiting for the band captained by Joakim Nilsson.

Graveyard attack with a beautiful hat-trick from their latest album (Peace) and they immediately conquer the whole Bloom. Notes flow fluid as on the album, but they are definitely more vibrant, exciting and enthralling. With his always scratchy and evocative timbre, Nilsson's voice takes a while to get warm (perhaps due to a lowering of voice or a cooling), but however it is magnetic from the beginning. And with the beautiful Slowmotion Countdown it opens itself in all its beauty, revealing all its warmth. Compared to last year concert, the new drummer (Oskar Bergenheim) is even more at ease with the rest of the band, and together with Truls Mörck's bass he gives life to a decisively carrying and overwhelming rhythm section. Tonight setlist retraces a bit all the albums of the Göteborg quartet (with the only exception of the homonymous debut album), but it dedicates a good part to the songs of the latest work, which live release all their strength and beauty. After one year, Graveyard conquer me once again, proving not only to be able to write great songs, but also to be a great live band, able to make (re)live atmospheres and sensations with a seventies flavour, but without any note of nostalgia.
