L'Olanda è una delle più rinomate piste di decollo per viaggi mentali. Aeroporto attrezzatissimo che fornisce carburante - sia naturale che sintetico - per tutte le esigenze. Nutrita dalle vibrazioni positive di tanta libertà, a cavallo tra anni 90 e 2000 si è qui sviluppata un'interessante scena heavy psych sotterranea in alternativa alla più largamente nota scena dance e techno. I Monomyth sono la polvere stellare residua dopo l'esplosione della galassia stoner psych: una droga musicale di origine naturale con qualche bagliore sintetico. Alla torre di controllo della musica dei Monomyth siede Sander Evers, batterista di una delle colonne portanti dello space rock: i 35007. E infatti le traiettorie ritmiche seguono quelle della sua band precedente: lineari, decise, ma anche ricche di mid tempo dal groove avvolgente. Su queste si intrecciano gli assoli liquidi e spaziali delle chitarre e le nubi atmosferiche di synth e tastiere, generando un flusso strumentale che possiede la fantasia degli Ozric Tentacles, il gusto melodico dei Porcupine Tree (epoca Up the Downstair) e l'energia degli stessi 35007. Con il loro terzo disco - Exo - gli olandesi confermano la loro elevata capacità di generare uno space rock cangiante e multiforme, ma saldamente ancorato ad una solida struttura dei brani. L'ascolto di Exo non può essere considerato al pari della scoperta di una nuova stella all'interno della galassia psichedelica, ma è sicuramente un pianeta affascinante - a tratti meraviglioso! - nel quale è doveroso farsi un bel viaggio.

Holland is one of the most renowned runways for mental journeys. Fully equipped airport with - both natural and synthetic - fuel for every need. Nourished by the good vibes of so much freedom, at the turn of 90s and 2000, a really interesting underground heavy psych scene found here its birthplace and homeland, as an alternative to the more widely famous dance and techno scene. Monomyth are the residual stardust after the explosion of the stoner psych galaxy: a natural musical drug with a synthetic hint. Sander Evers - drummer of 35007 (one of the pillars of space rock) - sits at the control tower of Monomyth music. Indeed, the rhythmic paths follow the tracks of his previous band: linear, direct, but at the same time rich in captivating groovy mid tempo.On these, guitar space liquid solos and synths/keyboards atmospheric clouds are intertwined, generating an instrumental flux with Ozric Tentacles creativity, Porcupine Tree (Up the Downstair era) melodic taste and 35007 energy. With their third album - Exo - these Dutch confirm their amazing ability to generate a changing multifaceted space rock, yet firmly anchored to a solid structure of songs. Listening to Exo maybe cannot be considered as the discovery of a new star in the psychedelic galaxy, but it is for sure a fascinating - at times marvellous! - planet where it is necessary to have a great trip.
