Ondeggiante come una lenta cavalcata attraverso i canyon del deserto nordamericano, Hex è l'album della metamorfosi degli Earth. Lasciato il compito di erigere muri sonori ai loro discepoli Sunn O))), la band di Dylan Carlson abbandona le distorsioni e crea un paesaggio sonoro dove gli arpeggi si dilatano fino a diventare vibrazioni stordenti. E' una musica che genera associazioni mentali con gli spazi sconfinati e selvaggi dei vecchi film western - l'effinità con la colonna sonora di Dead Man di Neil Young è evidente! - ma si spinge al di là della normale percezione sensoriale al punto da risultare quasi metafisica. Hex si avventura in territori inesplorati, dove il soffio del vento e l'ululato dei lupi sembra tramandare antiche leggende indiane. Psichedelici e spirituali, gli Earth compongono quello che può essere propriamente considerato l'erede del nuovo millennio di The End (The Doors).

Swaying as a slow ride through canyons of the North American desert, Hex is the album of Earth metamorphosis. Given the task of erecting sonic walls to their followers Sunn O))), Dylan Carlson's band abandons distortions and creates a sonic landscape where arpeggios dilated themselves to become daze vibrations. It’s music that generates mental associations with boundless and wild spaces of old western movies – affinity with Dead Man soundtrack by Neil Young is barely evident! – but it goes so further beyond normal sensorial perception that it results almost metaphysic. Hex ventures unexplored territories, where the blow of the wind and the howl of the wolves seem to hand down ancient Indian legends. Psychedelic and spiritual, Earth compose what could be properly considered the new millennium heir of The End (The Doors).
