All Them Witches - Sleeping Through the War

All Them Witches - Sleeping Through the War
(New West Records, 2017)

All Them Witches - Sleeping Through the War
(New West Records, 2017)

All Them Witches music is elusive and slips through the eardrums while the brain is unable able to imprint it along already pre-constituted neural networks. With its liquid arpeggios sometimes evaporating in subdued whispers, sometimes exploding in fuzz storms or fractalizing in groovy rhythmic labyrinths, it slowly digs new roads, re-adapting the old circuits of so many years of psychedelic music. Circuits born precisely on the destabilizing push of a music that tried to open the doors of perception, but that, after so many years of listenings, risk to become sclerotized, at this point they are accustomed to the usual perceptual formulas. Instead, these four guys from Nashville give new food to our cerebral cortex, and they run through the sulcus with a more instinctive than rational rock, with the result of making us reopen the third eye, slumbering for too long. The substance synthesized by the band (which if taken live has a much greater power) opens new gates in the mind by putting in continuous and bidirectional communication the two cerebral hemispheres. The warm touch of the instruments melts the apathetic gait of the voice (as if the Velvet Underground were born in San Francisco), while the diluted softness of certain psychic clouds thickens into massive stoner distortions and the obsessive repetitions are broken up into noisy phrasings. An auditory experience for the development of the mind.
