The Sonic Dawn - 24.11.2017 - Fuzz'N'Roll Fest - Cecina (LI)

Pantaloni a zampa, camicie floreali, capelli lunghi e strumentazione vintage.

The Sonic Dawn - 11.24.2017 - Fuzz'N'Roll Fest - Cecina (LI)

In a freezing November night, fifty years too late, it's not easy to carry your listener in the heart of Californian summer of love. Maybe only a band coming from the cold northern Europe (and therefore necessarily forced to imagine both the atmospheres of an era it did not live and the context in which these took place) can be so effective as to make them real to an audience accustomed to the music of the new millennium. The Sonic Dawn are this band. In a cozy familiar venue the Danish band frees its colorful dreams. Flared trousers, floral shirts, long hair and vintage instrumentation. The three are aliens fallen on a desert desolate coast, made even more surreal by the first chills of winter. Yet, so out of context and out of time, their soft - yet not fragile - blues, expanding itself into psychedelia without ever crossing the boundaries of hard rock, manages to open the doors of perception of the small, but passionate, audience. A guitar played with fingers and a round bass guitar balance a cold (but not for this reason stiff) Nordic drums. Melodies have got the shimmering colours of 13th Floor Elevators and, like those of the Texan band, they are covered with a thin garage dust. The trio, which has recently released its second album under Heavy Psych Sounds label, shows a live hypnotic force that on recordings is hidden behind the veil of a light psychedelic rock. The three Danes live in a dream of the past. And, at least for tonight, they take us with them.
